Aleph Kosher’s Visit to Café Nissi: A Journey of Flavor and Tradition

Recently, we had the honor of visiting Café Nissi, where we had the opportunity to see firsthand the process behind one of Colombia’s most cherished coffees. Rabbi Asher Cacua, supervisor of Aleph Kosher, shared with the Café Nissi team the importance of obtaining the kosher certification, a crucial step for their international expansion.

During our visit, Ms. Nancy González and her son Andrés Arias, owners of Café Nissi, shared the story of their coffee plantations in the municipality of Líbano, at the El Vergel farm. This place has been home to their coffee for over ten years and is managed by Stella Castillo, a courageous woman and single mother who has faced the challenges of armed conflict in the region since the 1960s.

One phrase that resonated during our visit was, “The coffee goes from the farm to your table.” This mantra reflects Café Nissi’s commitment to a product that is not only delicious but also sustainable and socially responsible. The kosher certification will not only open new doors in the market but will also allow more people to enjoy the different presentations of this unique coffee.

The tour of the plant was a fascinating experience. Coffee experts explained how the environment where the coffee is grown influences the unique flavors and aromas of each bean. Every cup of Café Nissi tells a story, and it was a true honor for us to contribute to the growth and expansion of this brand that invests so much love and dedication into its product.
